I think we are on the right track...

Jason here. I have to report an incident that makes me think we are headed the right direction with this kid. After spending some time at work with me and my coworkers, we came home and I decided to sand the driveway to help the snow melt. Jack, of course, went to work shoveling the snow into little piles on the driveway. When he saw me using the spreader, he insisted on helping. In the course of our travels up and down the driveway, I ran over one of his piles of snow. Jack started to sigh like he was bummed out. The following actually brought tears to my eyes:

"What's wrong Jack?
You ran over my snow castle Dad.
I'm sorry Jack. I didn't mean to.
That's ok. It was an accident. You didn't mean to. I forgive you. Ya know, sometimes, these things just happen. We just need to fix it.

My little boy has been paying attention to some of the finer educational programming apparently. I think he is well on his way to being a good person. I have never been so proud of him. Love ya, Jack!

  4. He is such a little man! :)
While I read your story, I imagined corny music being played in the background like in an old sitcom.
    You guys are great parents.
